About
Fulford Community Hall sits on Fulford-Ganges Road at the south end of Salt Spring Island and is run by the Fulford Community Hall Association, a volunteer board that looks after the building with help from community volunteers. The board's goal is to support and promote community activities in the Fulford area, and new volunteers are always welcome.
The hall has a long history. The first building went up in 1921 on land given by the Shaw family, was lost to fire in 1925 and rebuilt the same year, and was rebuilt again after a 1936 fire that also destroyed two other island halls. A south wing was added in 1982 by the local seniors' group. The association also holds the protective covenant on Drummond Park on Fulford Harbour, which was donated to the children of the community.
The hall can be rented for wedding ceremonies, receptions and rehearsal dinners, conferences, workshops, dances, private parties and celebrations of life. The main hall is 3,200 square feet with 18-foot ceilings and seats more than 250 people, and there is a large lobby with a bar area, a full kitchen with a serving window, a separate 1,000-square-foot room, tables and chairs, and plenty of free parking. The hall also hosts its own fundraising events and posts a public events calendar. Smoking is not allowed.
