About
Campbell River Hospice Society is a registered charity that supports people in Campbell River who are living with a life-limiting illness, the family members and friends caring for them, and anyone going through grief. Every service the society offers is free of charge.
Its end-of-life program gives compassionate support to people with palliative needs and to their families. Caregivers can join peer-to-peer support, a safe place to talk with others about their loved one's journey. Grief support is available for adults, and a dedicated Child & Youth Program helps children and teens who have lost someone. People can be referred to the society, and a program calendar shows what is coming up.
Much of this work is done by trained volunteers, and new volunteers are welcome to apply. Government sources cover only a small share of the society's costs, so most of its funding comes from the community, through the Hospice Thrift Store, a legacy giving program and events such as A Walk To Remember, Canada Day boat tours and a memorial golf tournament.
The office is on Evergreen Road and is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
