  distinctly Canadian retelling of the beloved Christmas classic\, set to 
 Tchaikovsky's soaring score\, following young Clara from a magical Christ
 mas Eve through the battle with the Mouse King and into the glittering re
 alm of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Choreographed by Royal Winnipeg Ballet alumn
 i Galina Yordanova and Nina Menon\, the roughly two-hour show pairs world
 -class dancing with lavish costumes and sets\, and is recommended for aud
 iences aged six and up. Performances run the evenings of December 2\, 3 a
 nd 4\, with two shows on December 5\, and each night begins with an optio
 nal pre-show chat for those who want a little background before the curta
 in rises. Staged at the intimate 800-seat Port Theatre on Nanaimo's downt
